Small gauge Film Scanning

DVD Conversions offer a full HD or 2K frame by frame film scanning service for small gauge film. Files can be supplied in formats suitable for editing, viewing or archiving in resolutions up to 2K.

DVD Conversions has worked with libraries, galleries, public institutions, production companies, broadcasters and private individuals. Our film scanning service has delivered material for use in television documentaries, local TV productions and for archiving of historically significant material for customers across New Zealand.

Our film scanner features:

Cold LED light source
2k resolution
No claws or sprockets
Direct drive film transport

We do not charge any minimum fees or setup fees. Film cleaning is included in our price. Film splicing or repair is not charged for unless new leaders are required – additional charges apply for attaching new film leaders.

Film scanning with soundtrack

Super 8 film strip with magentic sound track on both edges

We can recover sound from Super 8 and 16mm film.

Pictured is Super 8 film with a magnetic sound track. We recover the sound as a separate process and add the sound in the post production and editing phase.

We can also recover sound from 16mm film with an optical sound track.

Pricing: $ 7.00 incl GST per minute of film, there are no other fees except for film leader replacement. Files can be supplied as HD / 2K files on suitable media eg, flash drive (flash drives additional to price), or can be sent via download links.
